2023
Readers will be aware that 2023 marks the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the NHS and so this year the Trust was keen to ensure it had a suitably large presence in the Manchester Pride Parade and to ensure that their efforts were captured for their Internal LGBT Community along the wider community of healthcare workers across the whole of the Trust.
The clubs association with the Trust began in 2022, when it was invited to photograph the Trusts contribution to the Pride Parade, and it seems they were so pleased with the results that they appointed OCC their official photographers for this years much enlarged representation.
Mindful of the need to photograph a projected 200 plus members of the Trust as they gathered for the parade and then capture their experiences as they paraded through the streets of Manchester, the club was able to call upon the invaluable experience of Dave Kennedy from the Leica Store in Police Street Manchester to assist the clubs representatives Roger Donallon, and Heather and Steven Birds to capture the events of the day and return to the Trust over 800 informal images, for use on their internal network, which boasts a potential audience of some 26,000 people. A few of the images, selected at random from the ones each photographer took appear below.
It seems everyone enjoyed themselves and Oldham Camera Club would like to take this opportunity to thank the Trust for expressing their confidence in its members to deliver what they required in terms of images and in particular to thank David and the rest of the team at the Leica Store in Manchester for enthusiastically supporting the club and helping out on the day.
The Trust were so pleased with the results…that they have already asked if we will cover the event again for them next year. !

2023Just as the L&CPU seems to be trying to encourage clubs across the federation to have their members print and display their images, OCC are trying to do their bit to assist by way of reinstating its traditional Mono Print Competition this year, which because of the impact of the Pandemic, has, for the past few years had to take the form of a Mono DPI competition over Zoom.
This year however, the club has decided it’s time to revert to the normal format and invitations have been issued to over 25 clubs who previously participated in the DPI version. Additional promotional activity is planned to get the details advertised.
Gordon Jenkins APAGB and former President of the L&CPU has kindly agreed to judge the competition which will take place at the clubs premises on 23rd November 2023.
Any club wishing to take part should contact OCC via the “Contact Us” link in the About Tab of the clubs Web Site.
The next Charity Mono DPI Competition is being planned for early 2024, More Information to follow soon.

2021Oldham Camera Club starting a new year
As you will have seen if you have had a look at our 2021 syllabus , Oldham Camera Club has started the year with a full, new and interesting syllabus. Although we are meeting via Zoom, it is working very well and our events have been enjoyed by all.
On 4th February, we had our first ever interclub battle against one of the best camera clubs in the region, South Manchester Camera Club, a very big club with some good photographers. The format was over zoom with each club submitting 15 images in digital format. The judge was Rob Hockney, a much respected photographer and one of the top judges. Rob was very complementary about the overall standard of the images submitted and the result was very close. We were very pleased to gain a draw with the result being 260 points each. A return match is planned later in the year.
Oldham Camera Club’s Alan Andrew was our star of the evening. He had a fantastic night with the winning image “Waiting for trouble” and two second place images “Geisha Girl” and “George and the dragon – shown below.
